For May 2022, the Editorial Desk received twenty (20) commentary and perspective papers submitted for review and eventual publication to AVI Website. Editor’s pick for the month is the commentary paper by Bong Changsambath, Deputy Director of the Centre for Inclusive Digital Economy (CIDE), entitled “ Examining ASEAN-US Special Summit 2022.” Changsambath said that President Biden missed an opportunity to hold a bilateral talk with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, given the current state of US-Cambodia diplomatic relations. Changsambath argued that a bilateral meeting would have allowed the two leaders to build personal rapport concerning issues of common interests. These issues are climate change, trade relations and sensitive issues surrounding the Ream Naval Base causing friction between Washington and Phnom Penh.
