The Asian Vision Institute creates five centres to address specific issues and carry out programmes under their respective mandates. Each centre is entitled to develop its own action plans and raise funds to support its projects and programmes.
1. Mekong Centre for Strategic Studies (MCSS)
There are three main activities under this centre:
The centre’s areas of research focus on geopolitical and geo-economic analysis with a focus on the Mekong region and beyond, Cambodia’s foreign policy, great power politics, small states’ diplomacies, human security, and ASEAN. Besides, the centre has collaborated with our partners to conduct joint research, implement book project, and organise events including workshops, conferences, seminars and webinars.
Its flagship event is the annual Mekong Strategic Forum, which aims to conduct geopolitical and geo-economic mapping of the Mekong region, promote regional cooperation in addressing human security, and deepen regional economic integration and connectivity.
2. Centre for Governance Innovation and Democracy (CGID)

The centre’s flagship event is the annual Asia Think Tank Forum, which aims to promote dialogues and knowledge sharing about emerging governance issues and innovative solutions in Asia.
3. Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS)
Vision: The Center aims to share experiences in sustainable development and to promote inclusive and sustainable rural development based on local resource endowment, local ownership and local leadership with the integration of innovative technology.
CSDS is holding 3 programs: (1) policy research and training on sustainable development, (2) social innovation and partnership for inclusive and sustainable development, and 3) policy dialogues and communication.
The flagship event for Policy Dialogue and Communication of the center is the monthly AVI-SDG Dialogue focusing on progress, challenges, and practical solutions to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
4. Centre for Culture and Peace Studies (CCPS)
There are three main activities under this centre:
The centre’s areas of research concentrate on creative industry, technology and cultural connectivity, cultural governance, cultural diplomacy, and culture-peace-development nexus.
Its flagship event is the annual Asia Diversity Forum, in cooperation with the Asian Cultural Council (ACC), which aims to promote dialogues and knowledge sharing about experiences and methods in promoting and harnessing cultural diversity for peace, unity and prosperity.
5. Centre for Inclusive Digital Economy (CIDE)

CIDE’s flagship event is the seminar series on “AI, Big Data, and Cybersecurity for Industry 4.0” hosted in collaboration with the Cambodia University of Technology and Science (CamTech), Konrad Adenaeur-Stiftung (KAS), Teesside University, Cyber Studies Network (CSN), and AI-Cambodia Forum.
6. Resource Centre
The establishment of the AVI Resource Center makes it necessary to store the necessary research data in a secure and reliable IT system. As Cambodia is moving towards a digitized society through the establishment of an economic and social policy framework, AVI Resource Center enables AVI to move forward and to effectively address social issues through reliable and adequate information on a timely manner.

AVI Resource Center aims to collect and store reliable information for data analysis, create data-driven stories, scientifically promote knowledge-based decisions, and support long-term AVI operations.
7. Center for Advanced Research and Legal Studies (CARLS)
The Center is dedicated to advancing excellence in legal research and offering legal solutions to policy issues facing the country and the Asia Pacific region. The Center aims to enhance public interest and nurture public awareness in the learning of law and to promote the rule of law and other core values of the legal profession and policy making.
Research projects will focus on advancing the learning of national, international and comparative law through dissemination workshops in the form of legal training courses, seminars and other legal advocacy activities and the encouragement of publications on a wide range of topics. The Center aims to bring academics and practitioners together for its annual flagship “Asia Comparative Laws Forum” to promote dialogues and knowledge sharing with case studies and lessons learned from Asian countries.
