On 13 May 2022, Dr. Chheng Kimlong, AVI Vice-President, and Dr. Ngoun Kimly, Director of Research and Publication, had a meeting at AVI with an Australian DFAT consultant, Mr. Graham Teskey, and a representative of the Australian Embassy. The consultant was on a mission to seek comments from relevant stakeholders in the knowledge sector in Cambodia about the implementation and impact of the DFAT-funded Ponlok Chamnes programme. Dr. Kimlong and Dr. Kimly explained to the DFAT consultant and the Australian Embassy’s representative about the constraints and opportunities in the knowledge sector in Cambodia and how DFAT can play a crucial role in helping promote a research community in Cambodia. AVI, as a home-grown think tank with the highest number of PhD degree holders from Australia, stands ready to cooperate with DFAT and the Australian Embassy on future projects to enhance Cambodia’s knowledge ecosystem.
