After the Taliban regime collapsed in 2001, neo-liberal peace was planted and nurtured through peace negotiations and national reconciliation (peace-making, peacekeeping and peacebuilding). However, the neo-liberal peace has never been recognized as “truth” or “reality” by extremists like the Taliban and other insurgent groups. As a result, multi-ethnic Afghanistan has faced challenges in achieving a unified state. The country has experienced a worsening domestic struggle for political power and colliding views of civilization between radical Islamic minorities and moderate Islamic majorities.
Should you want to know more about the game of truth of neo-liberal peace and the complexity of state-building in Afghanistan, join our event and meet our Speakers and Discussant.
