International Disorder and Injustice? Neoliberalism and the Environment
ISSUE 2023
No 01
Release 30 January 2023
By Ros Sayumphu

If the First World continues to misuse its power and authority, global order and justice services provided to the rest of the world will be reduced or abandoned. When used in neoliberal international development initiatives, the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach of the First World has the potential to result in hegemonic interference. Therefore, it is crucial to comprehend the objectives behind ‘development’ and ‘sustainable development’, since their benefits may flow more to the First World than to the Third World due to the former’s control of the global capitalist system. This article is not intended to imply that neoliberalism plays no role in the expansion of trade and the economy. Rather, it is intended to highlight the unfair benefits enjoyed by the First World at the expense of the developing world, which has caused international disorder and injustice, particularly in the context of the environment.
